Interview & Giveaway : Gem Remedy

Today on Fashion Geek Club, we are glad to be interviewing the very lovely Dana Schmalenberg, the creator of Gem + Remedy today! We are totally in love with her creations and here is an interview with her!

1. How would you describe Gem + Remedy?

They're intention bracelets for metaphysical enhancements-- but they are dainty, floaty talismans with a touch of sparkle to remind you of your greatest wishes.

2. How did Gem + Remedy start?

I made them as gifts for all my friends for Christmas last year.

3. How do you get ideas to create those beautiful bracelets?

I made friendship bracelets as a child and then learned about color and gemstone therapy as an adult-- well, I was introduced to crystal and gem therapy when i visited a natural history museum at age 11 and saw a display.

4. Favourite place for inspiration?

Walking in nature or dreaming in bed.

5. Are the designs based on specific themes, seasons or just inspired by random items?

The design for each bracelet is the same and very simple-- the combinations or "compounds" as I call them are based on the energy of the stones.

6. Do you wear the bracelets everyday? If so, what is your favourite piece?

I wear them everyday depending on what energy I'm wanting to be reminded of and draw into my orbit. Right now it's clarity and peace.

7. What are you most proud about your products?

That I give a portion of my profits to women's shelters. I think it is absolutely important to give back. Whenever I wear my "wealth" bracelet (green silk with green agate) my affirmation is "I have enough money to share and to spare".

8. We are absolutely in love with the packaging, where did the idea come from?

I feel that these little bracelets are "remedies" to help your metaphysical state so I wanted them to have a medicinal or curative feel. I remembered getting herbs from my acupuncturist in these little bottles and thought they'd be perfect. The label is based on old fashioned mining specimen labels.

9. Describe a Gem + Remedy girl.

She knows the most important thing isn't how we look but how we FEEL. She's into feeling good and spreading good vibes. She wants the best for herself and everyone around her. She's part fairy, part hippie, part vixen and gypsy.

10. Lastly, what’s next for Gem + Remedy?

Next up will be Scent+Remedy. I will be combining herbs and flower essences based on the energies they evoke-- aromatherapy if you will-- for candles, room sprays and skin oils. They will have the same sort of packaging, but will be in much bigger bottles. A portion of the proceeds of this venture will go to animal shelters.
